History
The game of cricket was introduced to India by European merchant seamen in the 18th century. But India didn’t play their first Test match until 1932. When C K Nayudu led them at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, becoming the sixth country to receive a Test cricket status. India is currently led by former cricketer Ravi Shastri and is led in all forms of the game by Virat Kohli.
Before beating England in Madras as well as Pakistan subsequently to win their first Test series. The Indian cricket team had to wait 20 years for their first Test wins. India was regarded as one of the weakest international cricket teams in its first fifty years, having won just 35 of the first 196 Test matches.
With the development of players like Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, and all-rounder Kapil Dev. And the Indian spin of Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, and Bishan Singh Bedi, the team did, however, get stronger in the 1970s. India was still seen as simply a strong team at home and a weak team overseas. From the beginning of the twenty-first century. They improved their performance abroad. winning Test matches in Australia, England, and South Africa, particularly in limited-overs cricket.
